A Very Special Place

A Very Special Place, Inc. (AVSP) was established in 1974 as a nonprofit organization. The mission of AVSP is to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead fuller lives through comprehensive programs and services offering guidance, support, and opportunities for achieving independence, self-fulfillment and full community inclusion. The Community Service Society of New York (CSS) has worked with and for New Yorkers since 1843 to promote economic opportunity and champion an equitable city and state. CSS Financial Coaches work 1-on-1 with adults to help them overcome financial difficulties and develop positive financial skills. FCC coaches can assist clients in the following areas: budgeting and money management, debt reduction strategies, accessing formal banking services, credit scores and credit reports, and long term savings goals.

Elmys Special Services

We aim to enhance the quality of life for individuals diagnosed with disabilities and provide support for their families. ESS is funded by the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), the Department of Health ( DOH), the Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).

Empowered Sports and Fitness

Empowered Sports and Fitness is a unique sports and fitness program for children and adolescents, pre-K through high school. They offer inclusive personal fitness and exercise programs at schools and agency-operated programs. Private sessions are also available. Training regimens take the emphasis off competition and place it on "play" by incorporating games that are customized to the abilities of the child/adolescent.

Esperanza Center

Esperanza Center was established in 1952 to meet the social and educational needs of upper Manhattan's Latino community. In 1973, Centro Social la Esperanza, Inc., opened a comprehensive daytime program for adults with developmental disabilities residing with their families. Esperanza Center provides a multitude of services to children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Money Management International

Money Management International (MMI) proudly provides nonprofit financial education and counseling to consumers struggling with debt, budgeting, housing, and student loan concerns. MMI's services are available across the country over the phone, online, and face-to-face in select locations. Counseling is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by telephone so no matter where you live or what time of day you would like to talk with a counselor, they are here to help. If you prefer to meet with a counselor face-to-face, MMI offers in-person counseling by appointment only at branch offices across the country.

NYC Financial Empowerment Centers provide FREE one-on-one professional financial counseling and coaching to support you in reaching your goals. Work with our counselors to: Create a budget; establish or improve credit; set up a spending plan; open a safe and affordable bank account; contact lenders about debt, including student loans; develop a strategy to reduce debt or lower payments; access emergency government resources; and much more!

Founded in May of 2019, Summertime is a nonprofit 501c3 Art Studio, Gallery and Residency Program located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Summertime connects neurodiverse artists with the people and world around them, providing a platform to tell their stories, show their work and make money. The studio provides the space and freedom to create, materials and mentorship whereas Summertime's gallery offers an opportunity for exhibition and promotion.
